Peter Hwang
Lead Pastor, Teaching Elder
Peter spent most of his life in the New York metro area. While managing a twenty-year career in fintech there, he spent several of those years as a bivocational pastor. Most recently he was a ruling elder at his previous church in northern New Jersey, where he engaged in ministry to children and youth, taught adult Sunday school classes, and led programs in evangelism and outreach.
Towards the end of summer in 2022, Peter began to sense both internally and through friends, pastors and his church family that the Lord might be calling him to full-time ministry. The following year, after a time of discernment and prayer, he responded to a call from Harbor, a place he experienced as one of the most loving and welcoming gospel-centered churches ever.
Peter loves Jesus but also likes buffets, coffee and running, so that he can go back to the buffet. He is husband to Jessica and father to four children. He has a Master of Divinity from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, PA.
Sandy Hutchinson
Children’s Ministry Director
Blessed to be a native San Diegan, Sandy has a heart for her hometown. She came to know the love of Jesus at 14 years of age through the ministry of Campus Life Youth for Christ in her high school.
Throughout high school and college she enjoyed multiple cross-cultural exchanges and studying various foreign languages shaping her pathway to a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics from San Diego State University. It was during this time she began working with youth at her local church. Upon graduation she continued her education earning her Master of Divinity degree with an emphasis in Christian Education from Bethel Seminary, San Diego.
Sandy then went on to serve as the Director of a local pregnancy resource center which further strengthened her resolve to help bring the love of Jesus to her community. In the ensuing years, she has enjoyed participating in local church ministry, running a home business, and homeschooling her two sons, David and Daniel.
Married to Marc, they have made their home in Mira Mesa for the last 27 years and counting. When time permits, Sandy enjoys participating in choral singing, refreshing her romance languages and traveling to far flung places.
In a world that desperately needs the love of God, Harbor is committed to living out the “good news” of Jesus. Sandy is thrilled to be a part of that mission every week as we welcome the families that walk through our doors.

Daniel Corbin
Sunday Operations Director
Daniel is an east coast transplant originally from western Maryland, where he grew up exploring the Appalachian mountains with his five younger brothers and sisters. Homeschooled through high school, he then earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland. A position in biotech brought Daniel out west, but he’s now transitioned to engineering consulting.
When he’s not working, he loves spending time in God’s creation - hiking, biking, backpacking, stargazing, surfing, walking the beach, and anything else that pulls him out into the sunshine and fresh air. Cooking and baking are also favorite pastimes of Daniel, not to mention eating said sundries. Fan favorites of his baking include pretzel bread, tres leches, and baklava.
The warm and welcoming community at Harbor, coupled with honest and challenging teaching each Sunday are reasons he chooses to make Harbor his home church. It’s his pleasure and privilege to serve here. He hopes to be a blessing to the church (Heb 10:24-25) and to San Diego (Matt 28:19-20), helping to spread the Gospel and the love of God to our neighbors.
